1 - Make
air travel bookings
as soon as possible either through your travel agent or directly
through Royal Air Maroc (RAM) ; during this high season period this
will be your first concern as flights get very booked up.
Others Internet addresses for your fly tickets:
2 - The best solution
is to fly directly to Ouarzazate which has the nearest international
airport to the desert and which will help avoid wasting unnecessary
time driving long distances from other main towns. There are direct
flights from Paris or with a short stopover in Casablanca.
3 -
We would recommend
our 8 day
tour which includes day of arrival and departure. If you arrive the 28
December, the trek with the camels will take place before New Year’s Eve
leaving the Oasis in the direction of the Chgaga dunes.
If your arrival is either the 30 or 31 December your Saharan adventure
will take place after New Year’s Eve (please enquire about other
options). Whichever way you will spend some time at the Oasis, unique
place in this area, and 3 days trekking. (40-50km) The days of caravan
including New Year’s Eve represents the most important part of the tour
: a timeless experience when you will live in harmony with nature with
no extrinsic factors of stress.
4 - The following
is a list of what to bring :
* sleeping bag
* warm clothing for the evenings and nights (day time temperatures
will be agreeable)
* sport shoes, trainers, but try to avoid heavy walking shoes
* sun cream, sun glasses, a small medical kit.
Attention : The Hotel
Iriqui in Mhamid is the last place where you can recharge your
equipment. No electricity in the desert and at the Oasis. 20 km after
Mhamid, you don’t have any more network system for phones.
Protect you equipment of the sand : they don’t like this.
