The village of Telouet is situated at 1870 m, on the south side of the High Atlas, in a high valley where it flows the oued (river) Imarene.
It is dominated by an imposing Kasbah, which was the chief’s residence of the powerful Glaoui tribe.
In 1860 the building of Glaoui Kasbah was beginning at Telouet.
It has been considerably enlarged during the half century when the Glaoui held a prestigious power in the South. Since 1960, the Kasbah is almost completely abandoned. |
